The horror ...facing up to the horror of it all... April 30, 2010 |
| Hi Before we get into the subject of this week's featured article, now is a good time to attempt to practise what this site preaches about leading, communicating and managing change! Firstly, I want to say thank you for subscribing, and welcome as a visitor to Strategies for Managing Change and as a subscriber to this ezine. Let me give you a quick heads up. This site was launched approx 12 months ago. My intention was - and remains - to build a change management themed infomational site, specifically for the non-expert director or manager, and to broaden the range and scope of what this site offers so that it becomes a truly valuable resource - ultimately the premier online resource. We currently get about 20,000 visitors to this site each month and this is growing at a compound rate of 35% month on month. So this will increase to about 200,000 over the next 15-18 months. You are currently one of approximately 500 other people who receive this ezine, and this number is set to reach or exceed 2,000 by the end of this year and 5,000 -10,000 by close of 2011. I am sharing these facts and figures with you, simply because the size and growth of this site could be of direct benefit to you and your organisation. If you've received the freebie report and frankly this isn't for you - then no hard feelings, just unsubscribe via the links at the end of the ezine. If you are happy to remain a "passive subscriber" and simply read the articles - that's fine. But, if you have something to share or something to ask - then you now are already part of an embrionic (and rapidly expanding) community of change management interest - so why not become active and get connected? If you have product or service to sell into the change management marketplace - then you now have an opportunity to do just that via this site - and at no cost! With all that in mind I'd like to draw your attention to a number of new features and benefits that are outlined within the sections below.
And finally(!) to this weeks featured article. A recent visitor to the site questioned me about the source of the frequently quoted statistic that approximately 70% of all step change (i.e. more than incremental improvement) initiatives fail. Here is a brief summary of a cross section of sources that I sent her and that reveal the horror of it all. Change Management - Facing Up To The Horror Of It All I suggest you email this to any colleague who you feel is unaware of this and embarking on a change initiative! I look forward to your feedback on this and the other things I've shared with you today.
